I have a boatload of video files (a significant number of which could
be movies) and, I'd like to add them to the system so as to enable me
to have the following features:

- have a genre based classification
- allow it to collect meta-data from various 3rd party sources
- ability to tag movies

So, it should be able to take a file-path etc so as to add the movie.
